On March 8, 1931, the Associated Catholic Charities was formally established in Miami and is currently the biggest non-governmental provider of services and aid to the poor in South Florida with over 600 volunteers. www.catholiccharitiesadm.org
The ports in Port Au Prince finally re-open. The world can once again begin to shipping containers of relief and construction supplies directly into Port Au Prince. Many organizations have been collecting donations and can now ship the freight to survivors via ocean freight. Until now, most of the humanitarian relief has been arriving through air freight.
